STRATEGIC POLICY & PLANNING IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Local Futures is a five year research project funded by the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology (FRST). The project's goal is to enhance knowledge about the theory and practice of strategic policy and planning in New Zealand, and to assist in building strategic capacity and capability in the sector.

External Reference Group

Local Futures has appointed a number of individuals as members of an external reference group. Reference Group members have agreed to:

•  provide advice and peer review of the project, its papers and other outputs;

•  assist the project in identifying appropriate topic areas for research and facilitating access to information and opportunities to further research goals;

•  help the project engage and liaise with the local government sector.

Given the geographical spread of the members of the reference group, we do not envisage meetings of the entire Reference Group. Instead, we plan to seek peer review and assistance from reference group as the need arises and to meet with individuals and/or small groups as need and opportunities arise.

We will also encourage external group members to attend workshops and other occasions involving the Local Futures project.
